This is a review of the book Anatomy of the Gym: Commercial Culture and Body Discipline, written by Roberta Sassatelli. The book emphasizes different theoretical perspectives through an ethnographic study carried out in two gyms in Florence, Italy. The author has approached consumption, considering fitness, body, and commercial culture. She has also discussed some values of modern subjectivity, in an attempt to understand the routes that customers take towards their socialization in the gym.Downloads
